CLE Understanding Anger: Mindfulness Strategies for Lawyers

July 16 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

PBI CLE –

CLE with a mindful twist: Develop practical tools to navigate anger in high-stakes legal settings.

In a high-stress, high-stakes profession, anger isn’t uncommon—but how we respond to it makes all the difference. Mindfulness instructor and attorney, Claire E. Parsons, returns to PBI’s classroom to offer a unique CLE seminar designed to help legal professionals recognize, manage, and transform anger using evidence-based mindfulness tools.

Anger is a challenging emotion for many working professionals.

For lawyers, it may come up frequently in handling disputes for clients, such as contentious breakups, partnership disputes, personal injury cases, and custody battles. Anger is sparked between the clients locked in the dispute, and between the attorneys advocating for their client.

Though emotion is an undeniable part of law practice, lawyers need skills and tools to manage their emotions so that they can offer steadiness to clients.

In this seminar, you’ll learn how mindfulness practices can help you manage anger effectively and ethically. These tools will go beyond mere calming strategies and breathing techniques. Instead, led by a practicing lawyer and mindfulness teacher, you will learn strategies for understanding anger so it doesn’t control you.

Four personal “gains” when you attend this program:

  1. Understand Anger in the Legal Profession: Gain insights into the unique stressors lawyers face and how they can trigger anger and conflict in professional settings.
  2. Learn Mindfulness Techniques: Learn practical mindfulness strategies that can be seamlessly integrated into your daily routine to help maintain calm and clarity, even in the most contentious circumstances.
  3. Build Emotional Resilience: Discover tools to enhance your ability to handle high stakes disputes and guide clients through challenging times with patience and stability.
  4. Improve Professional Relationships: Explore ways to improve communication and reduce conflict with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel by fostering a more thoughtful and balanced approach to interactions.
